P9 Signature, our best over-ear headphone, exemplifies all of the acoustic and design innovation skills we have amassed in our 50-year journey.
This year’s Goodwood Revival Festival was themed around the vintage year 1966, the year John Bowers founded B&W Electronics Ltd, so it was an especially fitting event to mark our 50th anniversary and exclusively preview P9 Signature.
Crafted from the finest Italian Saffiano leather, the exquisite headphones were conceived and designed by our engineering team in the Steyning Research Establishment, West Sussex, to reflect 50 years of acoustic innovation. They have striking depth and clarity, the angled drivers ensuring the listener hears stereo more like it sounds in real life: aligned in front of you rather than to the side.
To mark this significant event in the brand’s history we created a show-stopping listening experience, located at the heart of the event next to the world-famous race track, based on a 1960’s music store but using today’s finest hi-fi equipment.
Five full-size listening booths, each featuring a covetable high-end setup including the award-winning Rotel A10 amp, Rega Planar 1 turntable and P9 Signature headphones, were stocked with classic albums from the era including The Beatles’ Revolver, Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds and Bob Dylans’ Freewheelin.
The experience gave festival goers the best of both eras, the warmth and depth of a pristine 1960s vinyl recording heard through some of the world’s finest headphones. And the long queues proved, once and for all, listening to vinyl is back.
