We’ve recently relaunched our Facebook page, to incorporate the new timeline feature.
Key milestones in the history of Bowers & Wilkins, including products, technologies, awards and events have been highlighted, and illustrated using historical images, vintage adverts and cuttings.
The timeline tells our story from the beginnings of the company, formed in 1966 in the back of the electrical store that John Bowers ran with his friend Roy Wilkins, though the setting up of the Steyning Research Establishment and the Nautilus project to the iconic Zeppelin iPod dock and P5 headphones.
As well as all of our products, we feature groundbreaking technological milestones that have set the standard for many loud speaker companies. These include the introduction of diamond tweeters, Matrix interlocking panels and the use of the distinctive yellow Kevlar as the material of choice for cones.
We also explore our relationship with renowned British designers Kenneth Grange and Morten Warren. We have long been an advocate of innovative design and we understand that form always has to follow function in great loudspeaker design. Sound acoustic principles lie behind the most iconic designs in our 46 year history.
We have a vast archive of images and we will be continually adding to our timeline to further tell our story.
We are very proud of our history and we hope you’ll come and have a look.

I remember dearly my B & W DM2A. As well as the DM1. I wonder how they stand with the new B & W speakers.
