Five stars for the new 600 Series

What Hi-Fi has given the new 685 and its decoupled dome tweeter a rave review.

Our long-awaited new 600 Series has been given an overwhelming vote of approval by the experts at What Hi-Fi magazine, who particularly praise the inclusion of the decoupled double dome tweeter, but also call out other improvements such as the tweeter grille and mushroom-shaped dust caps, saying their new shape and foam material “lessens unwanted resonance and aims for a smoother driver response in the upper frequencies”. The final verdict?

“Was it worth the wait? Oh, absolutely… They’re hugely entertaining, and their sheer power, punchy dynamics and excellent detail retrieval will make you want to listen to your entire music collection from the start. They’re the speakers we’d put on to get our friends into hi-fi, and we can’t think of a better reason to recommend the new B&W 685s. They’re superb.”

I could not agree more, having recently upgraded my home cinema setup with 685 s2,686 s2 and HTM 62 speakers together with the ASW 608 Sub. The range I have selected has even improved the sound quality produced by my 13 year old cinema amp using dvd,cd and mp3 sources.I am really happy with the result so far.Well done B&W!

Just purchased the 685S2 to replace some dated KEF speakers. They sound very refined and well balanced, even when being driven by my old NAD amp.
