LSO Live celebrate their 100th release with a Sir Colin Davis Anthology

The Sir Colin Davis Anthology is a unique collection of 13 discs including a DVD and a commemorative book incorporating photos and private correspondence from Sir Colin’s archives.

Sir Colin Davis was instrumental in the success and development of LSO Live, the most successful record label of its kind, and this set is the 100th release on LSO Live. The collection pays tribute to the huge part which Sir Colin played in the pre-eminence of the LSO across the globe for more than 50 years and in his roles as Principal Conductor and President of the Orchestra.

The Sir Colin Davis Anthology includes previously unreleased material from the LSO Live archive, Berlioz’s Overture Les Francs Juges and Te Deum; Sibelius’ Oceanides; and a recording of Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No.4. Also two much loved recordings are available on high-resolution SACD for the first time: Dvorak’s Symphony No 9 and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.

The Anthology is completed with a bonus DVD documentary by Reinter Moritz, Colin Davis: The Man and his Music. The remarkable documentary highlights his work in masterclasses, opera, concerts and to-camera talk.

The full list of recordings in the set are listed below. The notes are in English, French and German and the DVD subtitles in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. The Sir Colin Davis Anthology is available from all good stores and digital music services. Also available from lso.co.uk.
